Treasure Trail Public Commission, Denny
23 November 2016
Joe has recently been commissioned to create a ‘Treasure Trail’ for the Town Centre Regeneration at Denny near Falkirk, Scotland. Once a place of immense, varied and spirited industrial activity and skill around the River Carron, Denny has suffered post-war decline like many places, but now, as part of its regeneration by Falkirk Council is having a 7.8m development including a new town square, new shops and a community library. The Treasure Trail, one of five public art commissions, will involve a number of works placed across the new development in the centre and beyond, to sites around Denny. Informed by the history and natural environment, as well as the imaginations of the people of Denny and over the bridge, neighbouring Dunipace, the sculptures are due for completion along with the new town centre development in the summer of 2017.
